DENSO: Inventor of the QR Code

Many iPhone owners are the unwitting users of a DENSO innovation: the two-dimensional bar code known as the Quick Response (QR) Code. Developed to manage automotive component inventories in DENSO plants, the QR code instantly reads approximately 100 times as much information as a bar code, storing maximum information in a limited space.

In a rapidly expanding market, QR codes already have many uses including ticketless concert entry or cashless vending machine purchases. The code is also presently a world standard, and stipulated by JIS and ISO.

DENSO also developed the QR Code reader application for iPhones. Developed by DENSO WAVE Incorporated the QRdeCODE app allows you to scan a QR Code to get information; you can also create a personal QR Code to share information with others.
